Bettany Hughes' Treasures of the World

Professor Bettany Hughes travels to Estonia. Neighbouring Russia, Scandinavia and Germany, throughout history Estonia has been fought over and ruled by these foreign Empires. Now liberated, Estonia's culture combines modernity with ancient traditions from rural life in the forest and sea. Boarding a ferry, Bettany sails to Saaremaa - Estonia's 'Viking Island' - and discovers, hidden in a clearing in the forest, a sacred burial site with evidence of human sacrifice.
