Impossible Engineering

London is a mighty modern metropolis with more than 9 million inhabitants, but its sewer network was designed by the Victorians for a population a fraction of that. Engineers have come up with an audacious scheme to build a brand new multi-billion pound super sewer directly under the feet of Londoners. Spanning 32 kilometres, tunnels will thread their way through the tangle of the city's subterranean infrastructure, including the deepest shaft ever dug in London.
