The World from Above
Leeds to Fountains Abbey
This journey begins in Leeds, which, during the 19th century, grew from a small town into a major industrial centre. In the Yorkshire Dales National Park are Goredale Scar and Malham Cove, two dramatic natural features created over millions of years ago. Following the Norman invasion of 1066, great castles such as Richmond were built to intimidate the local population. This journey ends at the Studley Royal Water Garden, an 18th-century garden of such vision that it is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
