Weeks of War

The first weeks of a war that was to disrupt the lives of so many did not in fact start with the Nazi invasion of Poland in 1939, but two years earlier on July 7th, 1937, in China. The first shots were fired by the Japanese, in an incident with the Chinese Nationalist army at the Marco Polo Bridge just outside of Beijing. Over the next two years, what started as a regional conflict would link up with the war brewing in Europe to become a global war.
