Impossible Engineering
Hudson Yards
On the west side of Manhattan Island, New York, an army of ambitious engineers are working on the biggest construction project in the history of New York City - over 1.5 million square metres of space conjured from thin air. Spanning seven city blocks, Hudson Yards was home to 30 railway sidings for Penn Station, but having paid US$1 billion for the fresh air above the yard, an audacious plan was formed to construct a city within a city over the tracks.
