Julia is travelling across South Australia following The Explorer's Way, one of the world's great road trips. She discovers Coober Pedy, a mining town where the residents live in underground homes dug out of the soft rock. Julia checks into Shelley's Underground Beauty Salon and meets beauty therapist Shelley and husband Rod, who is a retired opal miner.
