Great Coastal Railway Journeys
Carlingford to Dublin
Michael Portillo continues his railway journey along the Atlantic and Irish Sea coasts of Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. From Newry, he sets off to cross the border into the Republic. Alighting in Dundalk in County Louth, he heads for the Carlingford Peninsula with its vast beaches of muddy sand. Laid out on steel trestle tables stretching for 30 kilometres he finds 70,000 bags of Pacific Oysters.
