Extreme Africa

The Southern Drylands is a journey into the most arid and extreme environments in the furthest reaches of southern Africa. We go to spectacular but treacherous places where almost no rain falls, to find incredibly resilient creatures and learn the secrets to their survival. From the largest mammals to the fastest insects and even a ghost-like fish found nowhere else in the world, the Southern Drylands contain some extraordinary inhabitants, all connected by the daily challenges of living in some of most inhospitable habitats in the world.
