Longworth's old partner, Detective Samantha 'Sam' Harper, tracks a serial killer, (the Northside Strangler) from Chicago to Florida, where she enlists Longworth's help to find him. Sparks fly between Sam and Longworth, as well as jealousy when Sam meets Callie. Soon enough a woman turns up dead with the Strangler's calling card: her eyes are dyed black. The killer is ultimately found in the last place Longworth expects.
