After the initial murders, the crew attempt to hide the truth from test subjects. When facility coordinator Geri is stung by a planted scorpion and evacuation proves impossible due to sabotage, they realise they're stranded in the desert. A year earlier, imprisoned Arthur Wilde receives a mysterious letter from 'XX', praising his crimes.
