The Frontier
Gone To Texas
Mexican-owned Texas offers land and freedom for those white settlers searching for a fresh start but the influx of 'Americans' would be the catalyst for the brutal Mexican-American war (1846-1848). Victory in the war against Mexico resulted in the United States gaining over half a million square miles of new territory, including Texas and California. Land claimed by the U.S. now extended across the North American continent from coast to coast.
