Refusing to join the company boxing team gets Robert Prewitt, a soldier in Sgt. Milton Warden's outfit, ostracised by his fellow soldiers save one, Pvt. Angelo Maggio. While Prewitt falls in love with Alma Lorene and Warden carries on an affair with the wife of their company commander, Maggio goes AWOL.
