Tokyo Skytree
Served by the original Tokyo Transmission Tower (333m) built in 1958, the 40 million residents of Greater Tokyo could no longer receive full digital and terrestrial coverage due to high rises blocking the tower's signal. The solution was the Tokyo Sky Tree, an audacious technological and engineering feat. Completed in 2012, the 634m-high Skytree is Japan's tallest tower, the second tallest tower in the world and the world's highest freestanding broadcasting tower.
